Submission Guidelines -- Literature

Here are the submission guidelines for submitting literature to Tea and Tales. Please read this section thoroughly before sending a query email, just because it'll be easier for me to organize everything on my end, which will make all the reviews I do swifter to complete, and it is (hopefully) clear enough for you all to know what I'm available to do so nobody's wasting anybody's time.

It should be noted that a free copy of the piece should be provided. I will be unable to complete a review of your work if expected to purchase what you've submitted. This isn't because I just want free reading material. It's because, well, I'm not being paid to review your work. I'm not getting any sort of financial incentive, or really any incentive at all, to read these pieces and write my opinions about them. Expecting me to pay you (via buying your work) in order to offer my opinions and thoughts on your work is sort of like expecting to be able to pour hot water over coffee beans and still get a cup of tea out of them: It just isn't going to happen.

I am not currently accepting submissions in Kindle format, simply because I do not currently have one. I will update this page and my main page when I have one, which should be soon.

If you've written something in a genre that I haven't listed here, drop me an email and ask if I'm interested. Chances are high that I will be (I'm very open to any and all genres and any and all subject topics) but it is always a good plan to ask before submitting an official inquiry.

~How to Submit~

Please put in the subject line of your email: Submission for Tea and Tales.

I'm not picky about what goes in the subject line, as long as you indicate that you're querying for a review and you're not just commenting on something on the blog. This helps me sort everything into my neat little digital folders and nobody gets lost along the way, it also helps me differentiate between spam and not spam.

Here's what the body of your email SHOULD look like:

Title: Story X
Author: Jane Smith
Type: Novel
Wordcount: 97000
Genre: Science Fiction
Summary: Story X is about Character Y who goes on a quest to find Item B in order to defeat Bad Guy K.
Personal Website(s) :
Format Submitted: eBook (file attached)
About The Author: Jane Smith is an author living in Littletown, USA. She likes puppies and kitties and soft fluffy ducks.
Available On: Amazon, Lulu, Smashwords, etc ...

You should attach the files / add in any links and/or codes you feel are adequately formatted for what I am able to accept to this initial email, or specify that you'd like to send me a print copy and I will send you my mailing address. Before you send the email, please double-check that the links are working or that you've attached the file correctly to the email to ensure I can access your work the first time 'round.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are submitting a print copy for review, you must include at least one link to a sale listing on a safe site. If I cannot verify that it is for sale on a safe site (like amazon.com for example) or that you are indeed the author then I will not send you my mailing address. This is for my safety.

Unless I'm severely backlogged, I will email you within one to two weeks to tell you that I've received it and verified that I can open / view / listen to the document. I should post the review within a month of sending you this verification email, but if I am backlogged with requests, I will send you a rough estimation of when the review will go up.
